For the first time, Birgitta festival welcomes visual theatre on its stage – their perfomance with the light show will brighten up the legendary ruins of St. Bridget's Convent in the mellow shades of a summer night. Specially completed for this year's festival, Planet Harmony brings together several professionals – conductor Kristjan Järvi, stage director Helen Rekkor, musicians Mick Pedaja and Kristjan Randalu and many others.
With his unique resourcefulness, Kristjan Järvi combines classical music (performed by Tallinn Chamber Orchestra) with contemporary sounds and improvisation.
Visual theatre is one of the newest trends in the field of performance arts. Award-winning stage director Helen Rekkor has created a piece Planet Harmony that tells about an extraterrestial Pii traveling around the universe who accidentally lands on planet Earth. Here the alien meets human beings and starts a much greater mission than originally planned. The piece involves the following subjects: digitalization, resources of the planet Earth, love towards the living. During the beautiful visual piece it will turn out how harmony is being born out of all of this.
Stage director Helen Rekkor, one of the leaders of visual theatre group Misanzen, was awarded Ants Lauter Director Award in 2018. Rekkor's works have recently been performed in Vaba Lava Theatre Centre and NUKU Theatre. Besides Planet Harmony, Rekkor has collaborated with playwright Piret Jaaks, the winner of Estonian Theatre Agency's playwriting competition 2017. They have co-created several theatrical productions that have impressed thousands of people.
Conductor Kristjan Järvi is highly recognized all over the world. According to Reuters, Järvi has been entitled as one of the most resourceful, imaginative and popular conductor in the world of contemporary classical music.
