The House of Black Heads (Mustpeade maja) is one of the most dignified buildings in the heart of the old town of Tallinn. Paradoxically, between these centuries' old walls of the building there is a jazz club called TAFF Club, aspiring towards creative freedom and cross-border collaboration. During eight seasons, most of Estonian jazz musicians have performed on the stage of TAFF Club. The club's president is the legendary saxophonist Raivo Tafenau who artistically manages the season's programme with special care and refined taste. During the past seasons, TAFF Club has created several special programmes composed specifically for our audience – for instance, jazz legends from neighbouring countries performing together with our local top instrumentalist in the series of Neighbour Jazz; settling accounts between different generations in the series of Käbid&Kännud (Kids&Fathers); or focusing on the work of beloved jazz musicians in the concert series Persona. We consider mixing various styles and finding intersections between them extremely important. From the Crossover experiments, the audience has already experienced the performances by Hendrik Sal-Saller (Rock'n'Jazz) and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra (Classic'n'Jazz) and there will be quite a few exciting fusions coming up.
TAFF Club is one of a kind – it is a venue for those loving the cosy atmosphere of the jazz club while concentrating on listening to music.
