Il Trovatore is a spectacular opera that brings us to Spain of the 15th century. The plot of the opera is emphasized by Countess Leonora's forbidden love towards troubadour Manrico. The love story gets complicated due to the fact that young Count di Lina is already in love with Leonora. Then a femme fatale enters the game, a gypsy woman Azucena, who is aware of the great secret about the deeds of Count di Luna's father. Just like in other Verdi's works, revenge and justice have been interwoven in the depths of human turmoil where every misdemenour will be punished.
Two young men circle around the Countess Leonora: Count di Luna and troubadour Manrico, both of them being extremely fancy. When finally it turns out that the two competitors are actually two brothers, once separated, and who don't know each other it will be tragically late. Love and hate, passion and envy, honour and shame, death and eternity. Verdi's music is a fireworks of emotions and the ceremony for melody – a true challenge even for the world-class stars. The Troubadour has been conducted also by Eri Klas in Helsinki.
