Tallinn Baroque Orchestra, Andrew Lawrence-King and Tallinn Philharmonic Society, present – Women's Day concert "La Musica". The program features 17th-century Italian female composers, music for women and about women.
The holidays that you would like to take with you from the previous regime do not exist actually. The exception, perhaps, is Women's Day because attention can never be too much for the fairer sex. You just need to change the point of view. A woman as a creator and source of inspiration is a timeless theme. It is hopefully relevant both now and in the future.
In the 17th century, Italy was a real cradle of culture. Rapid societal changes, perhaps as quick as today, also reached music. Great contrasts, beautiful combinations of timbres, momentum and joy of life are the keywords that come to mind first.
Andrew Lawrence-King has brought just the right spices to the orchestra, thrown out the induction cooker and replaced it with an open fire, using only heirloom varieties as ingredients. All for the music to touch as much as possible, reaching its full glory - just as it was when it was created. The result is an experiential evening, the best gift on this beautiful day.
